Stacy Ellis

Stacy Ellis has been a part of the Avondale Elementary School District family for the past 16 years. She has worked as a middle school science teacher, student advisor, and at STAR academy as an administrator and assistant principal. She has been serving as the passionate leader of Copper Trails School for the past seven years. 

Ms. Ellis holds a bachelor’s degree in Education and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Arizona State University. She is currently working on a degree from the Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law at ASU.

Matthew Tortora

Matthew Tortora began working for the Avondale School District in 2013 as the assistant principal at Copper Trails. Before he was with the Avondale Elementary School District, Mr. Tortora worked within the Arizona school districts as a sixth-grade social studies teacher and assistant principal. 

He holds a bachelor’s degree in History from Siena College and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. In addition to his role as assistant principal, Mr. Tortora serves as the Gifted Lead for the Avondale School District.

Ilana Dawson

Ilana Dawson has been serving the Avondale Elementary School District for nine years as a teacher, mentor, facilitator and administrator. During her time in the district, she has spearheaded initiatives that advance student achievement, responsibility, citizenship, and overall success. Her focus centers on building positive relationships with students to help them pursue their passions and meet their goals while supporting their academic success through classroom support and guidance. Mrs. Dawson holds a bachelor’s degree in Education from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in Educational Technology from Northern Arizona University.
