The Avondale Elementary School District Psychology Internship Program (AESD) is a full-time supervised experience for doctoral interns. The purpose of AESD is to provide a planned and programmed training experience in assessment, consultation, intervention and brief counseling to produce independent psychologists who are passionate and committed to providing high quality service to children and families. The program consists of 2000 hours of training within a 12-month period with at least 25% in direct service. AESD consists of four separate school districts, including Avondale Elementary School District, Deer Valley Unified School District, Saddle Mountain Unified School District, and Phoenix Union High School District. The Training Director is located in Avondale Elementary and maintains oversight of intern training for all districts.
AESD is a member of the Association of Psychology and Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) and is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). Questions related to the program’s accreditation status should be directed to the Commission on Accreditation:
